Europe votes to build a digital euro; the US Senate votes to ban a Fed CBDC

A European Parliament committee approved the legal framework to develop an ECB digital euro by 2029, framed explicitly as a way for the continent to stop relying entirely on US credit-card networks and dollar-backed stablecoins. The same week, the US Senate passed a housing bill carrying a ban on a Fed digital currency through 2030. One bloc is building a sovereign settlement rail; the other has outlawed its own. The dedollarization agenda is now official policy on both sides of the Atlantic — pulling in opposite directions.
